Okay, so my crashing problem isn't just with Firefox, since my new-fangled (and v. pretty!) Google Chrome has just crashed. Goddammit. Computers fucking hate me, I'm telling you. Also, it's doing this thing where sound still comes out the laptop speakers even though earphones are already plugged in. What's up with that? Anyone? Bueller? Thanks to the most munificent Sir Nix, I have a Google Wave account. Let's be Gwave friends, guys! If you, too, want to be a Gwaver, comment here and I'll send you an invite, first come first serve. But apparently invites aren't gonna be sent off immediately because the Gwave mods... "have a lot of stamps to lick". So. IN TURN, do any of you guys have an extra invite for AOOO lying around? Speaking of archiving/journaling things you need to be invited to, is Skyhawke still a big thing? Do you guys frequent it? Has the LJ-to-Dreamwidth migration actually taken place? What are the cool haps or whatever going on in these places that LJers are not party to? REC: two minutes before you go to sleep, Narnia/Peter Pan (!! \o/). He had never flown in Narnia, but now, hovering miles over London in the dark, with the wind in his hair and clouds curling around his feet, Peter Pevensie recognized the feeling perfectly. <333 <33 I am procrastinating more things than I care to admit to. One of those things is 'return to New York'.

( 1 bullet point about the Freya episode, 2 about 'Sweet Dreams' )+ The Merlin Fic Battle is under way, and someone already wrote a ficlet for one of my prompts: Uther Pendragon & Lucius Malfoy, my son is better than your son. \o/ + Multifandom 3-sentence fic-a-thon meme!+ The Year of Living Dangerously - is it an interesting movie? Have you guys seen it? Would I love to hate it? Hate to love it? It's set in 1960s Indonesia before the communist purges (filmed in the Philippines), but it is also about journalist Mel Gibson and military attache assistant Sigourney Weaver, like, falling in love and sticking to their principles or something. Also, we got some yellowface going on. Always a plus, that. + Write postcards to Angel and Katie! Say It With Flowers: International Postcard Project+ Oh yeah, I do have a commentary for The Ink Still Drying typed up. I should get that up at some point. Other things I'm excited about: having my Merlin episodes 2x03 and 2x08 on hard drive, having Prince Caspian on DVD.

Did everyone have a good Thanksgiving/Idul Adha? Everyone that's not a turkey, goat, or cow? GREAT. Wonderful! I just sent off a request for extension for Solstice. 'Cos, you know. Overambitiousness with overcompensation. You know how it goes. What have I been up to? Trying to compile my notes for Ideologies/Mythologies, make a cheat sheet for my awesome assignments and also that final. Networking like a motherfucker! I woke up today and the first thing I did before showering and food was send shmoozy emails to contacts of contacts in DC, goddamn. You know. Just trying my best to not be homeless next semester. YOU KNOW HOW IT GOES. But then I got distracted by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I only want fic for it in the way that I want fic for any thing I'm exposed to for more than 2 hours. Oh, and I'm up to 4.02 of Friday Night Lights I'M GLAD IT'S BACK. I didn't sign up for xover_exchange, but here are some of the prompts that I thought of that need to be written by someone: Narnia/X-Files. Susan moves in next to Mulder's apartment, and the two end up unexpectedly bonding over lost siblings and stories no one else believes.
X-Files/Harry Potter. Mulder and Scully investigate grisly murders, weird disasters, and people losing their memories. Little do they know that these crimes are being committed by Death Eaters. Some insight on what the Wizarding World is like in the US would be great, as would what Voldemort's influence outside of Britain actually is.
Harry Potter/Leverage. The team goes on a job in the wizarding world.
X-Files/Merlin. Uther invites Sir Fox Mulder and the Lady Dana Scully to come to Camelot and get to the bottom of strange happenings that Uther thinks is caused by evil sorcerers.
Leverage/Skins. Cassie is hired to be the Leverage receptionist.
Narnia/Merlin. Jadis and Nimueh are living together, occasionally irritating each other but also helping each other to get over the past. Or maybe instead of living together, they play chess together. Or play croquet together. I'm not picky. Also Godric Gryffindor and Aslan should hang out. I really wanna find out about the goats that get stared at by men and where the wild things hang out but there are no cineplexes in suburban Massachusetts where these are playing? THE SUBURBS ARE DUMB. DUMMMMMMMMMB. OBSERVATION: After an It's Always Sunny marathon, everyone gets really argumentative in creative ways over really stupid shit. Except the show is called "The Weather Sucks in Boston".

If you know of anywhere in New York where I can put my social science quantitative skills to work, you let me know omg. I need to find an opportunity that lets me volunteer/intern/work for 20+ hours a week for my OPT (Optional Practical Training, but the 'Optional' part is right now kind of a lie). Let me run a regression analysis on your data, baby. YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT. Let's you and I get serially correlated all night long! ...LOL J/K IT'S ACTUALLY TERRIBLE TO BE SERIALLY CORRELATED. Oh god. To prevent my head exploding from inoperable data sets, a post of Things: * I'm sure by now everyone has seen the 'Merlin' Children in Need 2009 special. It's like someone sent them crackfic, saying, "Can you film this pretty please???" and they were like, "Oh what the hell, sure why not!!" Also, it is weirdly similar to that commentfic that katakokk and I wrote that one time. ETA2: ZOMG AU!Pudsey!Camelot Meme* animus_wyrmis, remember the 'Merlin' extras meme we were talking about, with the servants and the guards etc? The Fleet is on top of that shit.* An interesting article about the hazards of transitioning from fanfic to original fiction. Well, it's sort of a review of Cassandra Claire's 'Mortal Instruments' books, which I've never read, but it makes some salient points that give one food for thought. "Essentially City of Bones reads like fanfic - and I don't mean that as kneejerk indicator of poor quality, I mean that it reads like something constructed for a different purpose, functioning on a different ruleset. Leaving aside any criticisms of the actual style, this scene would probably work - for me - if I read it as fanfic." * 'Merlin'-related things from my GReader that make me go 'fjlksdfj!': Angel and Bradley!! and KATIE AND ASA!!! <3333 * Wait wait wait. Katie McGrath AND Emilia Fox are both on 'The Queen'?! So I guess this is on my to-watch list now. I suspect that's all I have to say for now. So, meme time! Respond to this post with a completely made-up memory of you and me. ETA: God help me, I think I'm addicted to Fuck Yeah Merlin. All these pictures deserve fic: 1) MOTHERFUCKING PENDRAGONS; 2) What comes next in the story of their lives? Vaguely Edward Hopper-ish, no?; 3) Mordred is still crushing on Morgana and no one cares; 3) Uther passes on the sword; 4) Uther and the Lady Catrina take a breather from terrorizing the citizenry; 5) HOLY SHIT IT'S A MAP OF CAMELOT AND SURROUNDING REGIONS; 6) Arthur gets tetchy when he doesn't get his candy bar; 7) To no one's surprise, Merlin is a Death Cab fan; 8) Family photo!!; 9) Hanging with the guys!! <3333; and 10) I don't even know where to begin with this one.

There I was with 4800 words of fic when suddenly a saving malfunction changed my fic into 96 pages of those little boxes, you know which I mean. Ctrl+Z didn't work. Closing and reopening the document didn't work. Doing both of these several times with increasing desperation didn't work either, weirdly enough, and I was like But apparently the reason I couldn't find my saved file was because it is now called ~WRL1074.tmp?? I mean, all 4800 words are still there hooray thank fuck, but I only found it 'cos I was clicking on every hidden file in my fic folder going OH PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE. Well, that's taken care off. Onto more pleasant things! HEY MERLARNIANS, remember that awesome drawing I recced of Edmund and Merlin being lovable? Weellllll, me and moment_of_sen got to commentficcing Edmund/Morgana, AS ONE DOES, and now there is corresponding art. IT'S LIKE 2008 ALL OVER AGAIN!! \o/ but EVEN BETTER because now CAN HAZ ART \o/ \o/ \o/ wheeeeee angelqueen04 is hosting a Merlin Fic Battle. Even if you don't write anything you can still contribute oodles of prompts, as I did. Personally I hope someone writes this prompt: Merlin/The Office, Uther & Michael Scott: comparing notes. Perhaps one of you?! ( Now I ramble about the recent episodes of 'Heroes', while being halfway through 'Brother's Keeper'. )Also, I have a fic to post and it's not Merlin OR Narnia. Bizarre! (did you believe it when i said i was going to be scarce around LJ these days? me neither.)

* My post on personal stories got picked up for the 4th Asian Women Blog Carnival \o/, which I'm pretty excited about. It looks like there's some good stuff over there so def check it out. This year's theme is "storytelling, or reclaiming our selves through our words". Unsurprisingly the first thing I read is a poem about Manila and, speaking of land=body, zempasuchil, remember that Hetalia fic you never wrote that I gave you feedback for? 'When the Waters Rose'? This is kind of like that, but set in the Philippines. " our middle ground exists / where floodwaters rise / to meet sinking shores" * I'm beginning to wonder if I forgot about something important that happened last season in Heroes, 'cos what the hell is going on. On top of dumb superpowers. Why haven't I dropped this show yet? * I'm assuming that things like Queen Victoria, Demon Hunter are riding on the coattails of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. I'm not a big Victorian lit fan nor am I a zombie nerd overmuch, but I do like the idea of the two of them fused together. So. Are these books any good? * I'm not even in Trek fandom, but I just read and liked this fic by bravecows, which is set in a Starfleet Academy in Malaysia, featuring two female OCs who talk about why is it that only Westerners ever get assigned to certain missions and also why the Starfleet computer can't understand their accents. In other reccing ball news, I am also a fan of this Ty Lee/Azula fic and this Arthur/Gwen fic. * The world needs more Ty Lee/Azula. * I could make a legit Merlin reaction post but I'm kind of pooped, so have this two-word review instead: GAAAAIIIIUUUUUSSSSSSS! PENNNNNDRAGONNNNNSSSSS! * fantasyecho embeds YouTube vids of Western pop songs being played on traditional Malay/Indonesian instruments. *_* * And, for the hell of it: ( mash-up recs! ) You guys got mash-up recs to share? * I'm gonna hunt for dinner and send at least one job application before bed. (man i was so productive last week)

WHERE IS MY [spoiler for upcoming 'Merlin' episode] ALREADY Anyway. I wrote this at one of the camelot_fleet parties a few weeks ago when heather11483 gave the prompt "Clueless Guard #2/Clueless Guard #3". This one is for the redshirts. Men at ArmsMerlin. The knights and guards of Camelot. 970 words. Rated G. "He wants to be heartened by Sir Leon when he tells them that Camelot needs them now more than ever, and he wants his trust in his prince to be enough, but Bedwyr wonders."( Men at Arms )

It's been a while since I posted about Donald Duck so I'm going to rectify that. Is THIS the most amazing Disney comic cover art ever, or is it this? Probably the latter, because holy fucking shit HanSolo!Donald omg <33. Where can I get that in English? Still behind on comments, still behind on writing, but for now: Yuletide letter time! ( Dear Santa, I want a pony. )ETA OF : MERLIN/NARNIA FANART hdjksfhds \o/ IT LIVES

fhskfhjkd HOUSING WOE jhfldjsflksdjfd JOB FAIR WOE jfkdsjfdl it is time to distract myself wiiiiith LIVEJOURNAL. Hello! ( Here's the thing about Captain Planet: he's a great superhero, but he's a crap environmentalist. )So. That is pretty much the 'Captain Planet' part of my Yuletide letter done. And here is maybe something for the 'Jonny Quest' part too. I was thinking about how in both the universes of JQ and CP, magic exists alongside science. It is not emphasized, but it's there, whether it's guardian spirits or *deep breath* Hadji going SIM SIM SALABIM and bending the bars of his cage open. It's pretty interesting considering how both shows -- well, more JQ than CP -- is all like ~*SCIENCE*~, or at least "cool technology!!". What kind of a modern world is that to live in, I wonder, where magic and science are both quite factual? Why are they mostly separate instead of working together? I am sad to see that no one requested 'Ocean Girl' fic even though 3 people offered to write. Perhaps I will write one as a stocking stuffer? eta: there are exactly 1337 emails in my inbox lolol
